Empowering Education Through Parent-Teacher Collaboration

Hi! I’m Beth Vlerick
and I am running for
River Forest District 90 Board of Education

Who Is Beth?

I am a parent of 3 children, two of whom have graduated from District 90 and one who is a current student. I have also been a River Forest resident for over 18 years. I actively participate in the OPRF Community and spend a substantial amount of my time volunteering for the District. Over the years I have built wonderful friendships with many D90 parents and quality partnerships with community residents.

As a former Federal government employee with a Master’s degree in Public Service Management, I will use my skills
to bridge the gap between different groups from the community to help the schools maintain D90’s Exemplary Status while also keeping an eye on the future.

Empowering Education

Along with my government background, I have first hand experience in the classroom not only as a
volunteer at Willard and Roosevelt but I also was
an adjunct teacher while completing graduate school at DePaul University.

My passion for education doesn’t end there. I enjoy learning about new curriculum and best practices
for classroom management in addition to regularly
attending D90’s Board of Education meetings.

Building positive relationships with teachers, principals, and administrative staff in District 90 has always been a priority for me. I’ve had the privilege of serving on several D90 committees, where I was able to give valuable insight into the district’s current initiatives.

Community Involvement

District 90 committees:

  • 2017 Parent/Caregiver Focus Group for standards-based report cards

  • 2024 Equity Action Plan Team member

  • Inclusiveness Advisory Board since 2021

  • Equity Collaborative since 2022

Willard Elementary School:

  • Chair of Book Fair - 2016 & 2017

  • Chair of Willard Dance - 2014 & 2015

  • Chair of Family Cultural Festival - 2019

Roosevelt Middle School:

  • Chair of Impact and Parent Enrichment Committee - 2018

  • Co-president of Roosevelt PTO - 2019-2021

"Beth’s strong and supportive relationships with teachers and parents alike, makes her uniquely qualified to serve on the Board of Education as we face Dr. Condon’s retirement in 2026. She will be instrumental in finding a solid replacement for his departure.”
